No Surprises, Please?

This may sound absurd to some of you, but I REALLY, REALLY don’t like surprises… well, at least surprises that I know are coming. There isn’t much out there that frustrates me more than knowing something is coming my way and then having NO idea when it’s happening or what is going to happen when the time comes. Now, these things are somewhat avoidable in everyday life. I can typically persuade the “surpriser” to spill the beans, or snoop my way into the knowledge I desire; however, today I find myself waiting on a surprise that I cannot talk my way through, or dig up information about.

I am a Warrior (and you can be one too!)  

That’s right, I am a warrior and I have a shirt, medal and awesome hat to back it up.  Last weekend, I, along with five friends and thousands of strangers, headed out to Manchester, TN to take on the Warrior Dash.  If you have never heard of the Warrior Dash, I suggest that you check out their website… It’s pretty awesome!  The Warrior Dash prides itself on being the “Worlds Largest Running Series,” and they have thousands upon thousands of people participate every year to raise money for St. Jude Children’s Hospital.  To become a “Warrior” you have to survive the 3.2 mile run known as the Warrior Dash.  Sounds simple huh?!?  Well, there was one thing I left out…There are 12 different obstacles throughout those 3.2 miles. Yeah.

A Perfectionist's Prison (Part 5): God's Grace

Wow. I can't believe this is our last lesson at the Perfectionists Anonymous therapy group! :) Thank you so much for reading, and I hope you got something out of this series (See Part 1, 2, 3, & 4).  I know I got a lot out of it just for myself! Coincidentally (yet, I believe not coincidentally at all), the She Reads Truth community is going through Galatians right now.  So to start off, I would like to share a quote from a blogger and author, Sarah Matheny, that I happened to read this morning.  

"God isn't checking your résumé. He's not tallying up your gold stars. What you've achieved in this world on your own will is totally irrelevant. It's impossible to earn God's love based on your merit or efforts -- He already ADORES you. And that is called grace."
