Tis The Season...To Focus.

It’s that time of year. You know, the time of year where EVERYTHING gets CRAZY. Really. CRAZY. The holidays are among us, which means there are parties to be had, goodies to be baked and presents to be bought. And on top of all of that, if you are in school, there are exams to be taken and projects and papers to be finished. I told you it was the crazy time of the year! As we approach this time, my prayer is that we remain focused.
On Monday, I had to endure one of things I hate the most, an eye exam. I would rather have 10 teeth pulled, than 1 eye exam. I know what you’re thinking, “Wow, she’s whack!” Well, I never claimed I wasn’t. True story, I absolutely hate it! However, it is necessary to help me stay focused. Have I mentioned how much I hate the eye doctor?!?You see, I have perfect vision in one eye. I can read the bottom line every time. However, my other eye is not so perfect. As a matter of fact, I can barely read the third line with it. It’s very frustrating and hard to focus on words sometimes because my eyes are constantly battling each other. That’s where my contact comes in. Yes, you read that right, contact. I do not wear contacts, I wear a (1) contact. That tiny piece of whatever it’s made of, helps my bad eye see a little bit better. Not only that, it helps me focus. Over the past few months, I had noticed that it was becoming more and more difficult to focus, and it was even causing me to have some headaches. As a result, I had to go to the eye doctor, get them to check it out, adjust some things and help me refocus. A little prescription tweak here and a little there, BAM, I’m back in focus.
So, my question to you is, how’s your focus? I’m not talking about your vision, but I’m talking about life. Is your focus on God and doing things for Him and His Kingdom, or is your focus on yourself and the things you want? Is it on all the things you have to get done in the next several weeks to prepare for the holidays, or is it on the true reason for this holiday season? Do you need a little help with your focus?Maybe you need to take a visit to the doctor for a little help with your focusing problem. Now I’m not talking about the eye doctor so you can see better, but I am talking about Jehovah Rapha, Our Healer. God is the great physician, and He can (and will) help our focus problem. So, today, examine your heart, desires, and what drives you, and see where your focus lies. Maybe your prescription needs to be tweaked a little so your focus is on Him and Him alone.
God, may we all have eyes to see the world as You see it.
