'She Reads Truth' and Grows

More than half of 2012 has come and gone. Early this year, all of us at GLAM made some weakness confessions and some goals, and I think we are doing okay (Check out my blog, The Documentation of Tiny Progression.) Amanda now has a bun in the oven, and that has thrown us for a loop (a happy yet disorganized loop). Meredith finished grad school, and I have less than a year to go. When you look back at these past few months, so much as happened, yet on a daily basis life seems so much more mundane. Do this homework, cook this meal, clean this closet, WRITE THIS BLOG,... It can all become a rut if we aren't constantly pushing ourselves further. Thanks to starting GLAM Pinterest boards, I rediscovered two very inspiring quotes.
"Life begins at the end of your comfort zone."
"We must be willing to let go of the life we have planned so as to have the life that is waiting for us."
These two points connected with my recent thoughts of the daily grind. First, the "A" in GLAM stands for advancement. If you are not developing a self-awareness to continually push yourself, how will you grow to be who God really wants you to be? Then after developing awareness, you actually have to get up and WORK. Jump outside of your comfort zone and actually grow. It may feel awkward being moved out of your safe, familiar pot, but being replanted in a bigger space is necessary.
For me, I've already finished college, had job experience, moved out of state, traveled on missions trips, and etc. etc. etc... I am at a place when finding new areas for discipline are necessary, otherwise I will surely hit a rut! via savagewifey: 'Thankful for the #shereadstruth community!..."I am so grateful to have discovered the devotional plans on YouVersion from She Reads Truth. Attending a Christian school most of my life where Bible study just felt like homework, I've had to reprogram my brain to actually enjoy devotionals (Sad, I know). I'm so thankful to have an easy-access way to refreshen that area of my life. In addition to this, I want to stretch myself physically by running more. We aren't gettin' any younger, folks! (Even if you are only sixteen, guess what?... You are only getting older!) So the choices we make and the strength and discipline we create will follow us for years. Even if you start small, we all have to keep moving forward... and that even means literally!
Finally, as we set goals and make plans, it is easy to fall into the trap of thinking we have control over everything and know exactly how our lives will pan out. Well, the only thing you can know for sure is that you don't know anything... The life that is waiting on you may be nothing like you have journaled and imagined, but as you grow and change, you will become ready for it.
