What I Learned This Summer!
Sadly, my summer is over and my senior year is about to start, which means today is my last day at the GLAM office. :( I've learned a lot of things this summer -- in and out of the office -- and maybe you could learn from them, too!
1. Be Bold.
Last month, I went to New York City with my church on a serve trip to help Grace Church in the Upper West Side. We didn't really do much physical work such as building or painting, but we talked with a lot of people in hopes of inviting them to church or planting a seed for a relationship with God (only 3% of NY is Christian!). Now don't get me wrong, New Yorkers are VERY sweet people and they love helping you, but some of them can be extremely intimidating to talk to at first. Over our trip, we learned that in order to talk to these people we had to be bold and just start a conversation with them. Sure we got rejected more often than not, but overall we got to know a few amazing people and share God's love with them.
2. Every girl is GLAM.
I've had an incredible time at the GLAM office this summer. I've learned what it means to be a GLAM girl and how I can help other girls realize their beauty and worth, and that's soemthing I'll never forget. GLAM has taught me lessons such as following my dreams, no one is perfect, and how to deal with relationships/hard times. Every girl needs to know what I've learned and grow from it.
3. Finding a mentor is easier than you think!
Sometimes it can be hard to find someone who you click with so well, but it's so worth it when you find your mentor! I've been deemed "Little Amanda" since we're so alike, and I love it! We both LOVE glitter, clothes, cupcakes, small fuzzy animals, clothes, and Disney/Pixar Movies! ;) When I first met her, I had no idea that she was a mentor and that a year later she would be MY mentor! Amanda is definitely someone I look up to since she's a strong, beautiful, Godly woman, and I'm so happy I was able to be her intern this summer! I hope everyone can find a mentor like her!
4. If God brings you to it, he'll lead you through it.
Life can get pretty tough sometimes, especially when you're my age and dealing with boys, school, work, and friends! Something I've learned is that you can handle anything life throws at you with God. God gives his hardest battles to his strongest soldiers because he knows you can handle it with His help. Just remember that you're never alone in what you're dealing with, and the best way to handle it is to talk to someone about it.
I hope you all have enjoyed your summer as much as I have mine, so heres a little peak into what I did! Enjoy your school year everyone!
