There Could Never Be A More Beautiful YOU.

So, I was driving in my car the other day and I was in need of a little encouragement. I don't know if you know this, but I have a lot of younger siblings. Six to be exact, and sometimes being a big sister is quite the challenge. I truly want to be the best role model I can be, but sometimes it is hard... especially when you have a freshman, fourteen year old, younger sister. For the most part we get along, but we have our fair share of arguments.

When she was in seventh grade, I was a junior in high school and she would always wear t-shirts and jeans and those DC tennis shoes. I was caught up in being a typical teenage girl and would only wore what my friends thought was cute, so my sisters attire bothered me. Plus, I am her big sister and it was just another way for me to act like her older sister. (Shame on me, I know). Anyway, one day I decided to tell her that she kind of dressed like a boy and from that day on, she has been wearing all of my clothes. Obviously I did not see that coming, but I guess I deserved it! Honestly, I don't really mind her borrowing my things because in a way it is another chance for me to influence her. If I want my younger sisters (and all young girls) to dress modestly, then I should set an example by dressing modestly also.

Back to me driving in my car... This song came on and usually when songs that I don't know come on I bob my head and enjoy the new melody, but this one had much more to it. The words to this song apply to every girl on this earth and here are the sweet lyrics:

Little girl fourteen flipping through a magazine
Says she wants to look that way
But her hair isn't straight her body isn't fake
And she's always felt overweight

Well little girl fourteen I wish that you could see
That beauty is within your heart
And you were made with such care your skin your body and your hair
Are perfect just the way they are

[chorus]
There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you

Little girl twenty-one the things that you've already done
Anything to get ahead
And you say you've got a man but he's got another plan
Only wants what you will do instead

Well little girl twenty-one you never thought that this would come
You starve yourself to play the part
But I can promise you there's a man whose love is true
And he'll treat you like the jewel you are

[chorus]
There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you

So turn around you're not too far
To back away be who you are
To change your path go another way
It's not too late you can be saved
If you feel depressed with past regrets
The shameful nights hope to forget
Can disappear they can all be washed away
By the one who's strong can right your wrongs
Can rid your fears dry all your tears
And change the way you look at this big world
He will take your dark distorted view
And with His light He will show you truth
And again you'll see through the eyes of a little girl

[chorus]
There could never be a more beautiful you
Don't buy the lies disguises and hoops they make you jump through
You were made to fill a purpose that only you could do
So there could never be a more beautiful you

Lovely, right? I almost started crying. These lyrics mean a whole lot to me. Yes, I am a big sister, but I am also a Sunday school teacher to eighth grade girls, and a youth group leader to many high school girls. I want these young ladies and every other woman out there to take these lyrics to heart. THERE COULD NEVER BE A MORE BEAUTIFUL YOU. Do you understand the power in that sentence? Our Almighty King created your hair, skin, eyes, body... He created YOU just the way YOU are for a specific reason. Why try to be like someone else when you can be the most beautiful you?! No matter what is going on in your life, no matter what challenges you are faced with, try to remember these words.

Stay beautiful,
