I enjoyed hearing this talk. I pray I can go to Africa someday. There are so many kids needing help and we have so much. They have so little. And I just want to say my favorite ice cream is coconut fudge and if I were one of the 7 Dwarves, I would be happy, becuz I am an optimist. :)
Now I won't be able to go to starbucks without thinking about this! People around the world need love and people to care. It's good for you to get the word out so we don't forget, especially the trafficking with such little ones. I didn't know that was going on and that breaks my heart.
Inspiring talk! I agree, we're so busy thinking of ourselves each day, and being in a rush with our own stuff, we don't stop and take the time to care. If we could look into their faces like Ginger said, then we would open our eyes to their needs.
Thank you for your comments ladies. This was definitely a fun podcast to record!
Audrey, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Ginger and I really enjoyed interviewing Liv and Paula. I also pray that one day you will be able to venture to Africa and experience it for yourself. We can tell stories all day long, but once you get there and see it for yourself you will never be the same again! You are right, God has blessed us with so much while they have so little. I believe that He has blessed us with so much so that we might not keep it all for ourselves, but that we might give to those in need, no matter where in the world they are.
I must admit that I have never heard of coconut fudge ice cream, but I'm sure it's awesome!
Cara Evelyn, I have not been able to walk into a Starbucks without thinking about it either. It's amazing how God uses the seemingly little things in our lives to point us back to His work. You are right, there are people all around this world that are in need. I believe with all my heart that God has called me to be an advocate for the boys so that the world will know what is going on. I know for me, it's easy to get caught up in my day to day life and forget what is happening halfway around the world. I'm praying that God gives you an opportunity to give, go or serve to help spread the word.
Leesa, I must admit, as passionate as I am about Africa and this boys home, I often get caught up with my own self and forget about them and their needs. Ginger was exactly right about looking into their eyes. I had heard hundreds of stories about Africa before my first trip and I thought I was prepared, but I was wrong. To be there face to face with these precious children will change you forever. There are no words to describe the tug they have on your heart when you make eye contact with them and they just smile back at you. Talk about capturing your heart! :)
If any of you would like more information on how you can help or even go to Africa, please do not hesitate to email me. I would love to talk to you!
Pressing On,
Meredith
