Mind. Blown.

Is there anyone else out there who has had their mind blown?  Or is it just me?  You know, that moment... The moment when you see, realize or learn something and all you can do is say, “Wow…”  That’s what it means to have your mind blown. I, being the self-proclaimed nerd that I am, loves learning something and having my mind blown.

Here are 10 things that blow my mind.

10.  The ABC’s and Twinkle Twinkle Little Star have the same tune. (Go ahead, hum them both to yourself.)  Mind. Blown.

9. The fact that there are billions of stars in the sky, and they are so far away that by the time we see them, they might not even exist anymore.  Incredible. Mind. Blown.

  8. You can put a piece of paper in a fax machine and scan it... then it can travel via a phone line and come back together and print an exact duplicate across the world.  On a phone line!!!  Yeah. Mind. Blown.

  7. Music.  The sounds, the styles, the compositions.  Creative.  Mind. Blown.

  6. If you were to take all the ants in the world and weigh them, it would be close to the exact weight of all the humans in the world.  Wow. Mind. Blown.

5. A human produces enough salvia in a lifetime to fill up 2 swimming pools. Gross. Mind. Blown.

  4. The first man to survive going down Niagara Falls died from an injury from slipping on an orange peel.  Crazy.  Mind. Blown.

  3. I never, ever, crave Chick-Fil-A, except on Sunday’s when they are closed. Frustrating.  Mind. Blown.

  2. You and I both were knitted together in our mother’s womb by the God who spoke the world into existence.  He took careful time to make sure we were just the way He wanted us.  Not only that, but He wants and longs to know us and live inside of us.  Honored.  Mind. Blown.

1.  God doesn’t need me, but chooses to use me.  Baffled.  Mind. Blown.

There are not many times in life that you find me speechless.  However, when I think about how God does not need me, my help or my work at all, but yet allows me to do things for Him, I become speechless.  My thought process goes something like this.  “Why God? Why have you blessed me beyond what I could ever imagine? Why do you choose to use me? Why am I a part of the chosen vessel in which you deliver your message to the world? Why do you speak to my heart and give me the talent and words to write and things to say and do? Why? I am so incredibly not worthy. I am nothing but a dirty, filthy, rotten sinner who is worthy of nothing but your wrath. God, you don't need me, but yet you want me. You choose to use me.” I simply cannot believe that I am allowed to do these awesome things. I stand in awe.  I stand with my Mind. Blown.

I definitely do not understand why, but I will always thank Him and praise Him for it. We are not worthy, but yet He makes us worthy. May I never be able to get over the fact that the God of the universe allows me to be a part of the incredible things He is doing. I think Casting Crowns hit the nail on its head when they wrote "In Me"...

'Cause when I'm weak, You make me strong

When I'm blind you shine Your light on me

'Cause I'll never get by living on my own ability

How refreshing to know You don't need me

How amazing to find that You want me

So I'll stand on Your Truth,

and I'll fight with Your Strength

Until You bring the victory,

by the power of Christ in me

To reach out with Your hands

To learn through Your eyes

To love with the love of a savior

To feel with Your heart and

to think with Your mind

I'd give my last breath for Your glory...

Great post, Mer!

BUT I feel the need to be immature for a second and make an addition to number 3...

"It's like raaaaain on your wedding daaay..
A free riiiide when you're already late...
Cravin' ChickfilAAAAA but it's always sundaaay!"

:)
