Creative Manna from Heaven

When was the last time you were decently inspired by something?  I mean really truly good and inspired? (Reference: "That Thing You Do" I am Spartacus...hehe)

I’m a creative type. I like to get my hands dirty and make ideas a reality. But like most people I find myself pulled away from doing the things I love by the things that make life stressful and overwhelming. It can take some time to really get a grip on those things and have time to refocus. I’ve been in that gripping state for quite sometime now, and I’m beginning to have time to indulge my creative side again But sadly, I’ve been completely uninspired… I should say, was, because now I have joined the online paradise known as Pinterest.com.

Ummm… If you are looking to stimulate your noggin, look no further. In fact I may be beyond stimulated and moving toward addicted. It’s like creative manna sent down from Heaven on rays of happy golden sunshine to brighten even the darkest, coldest, most rock hard places in my glitter glue loving soul! I could spend hours upon hours and days upon days scouring the pictures and searching topics. I just can’t stop. I have so much inspiration now, I will be crafting, re-organizing, decorating, pinning and re-pinning until the good Lord calls me home.

Now, When was the last time you were decently inspired by God?

I mean, really good and inspired? (He’s better than Spartacus.)

WHOA… now I’m getting deep! Think about it though. Our spiritual minds are much like our creative minds. We crave that time to soak in and be inspired so we can turn around and use the abilities that He has given us to be the inspiration to someone else. But when life gets busy, stressful, and overwhelming, the first things off the list (with our hobbies and free time) are our quite moments alone with God and church. Trust me here, I’m preaching to myself.

The truth is we’ve got it all wrong.  When life gets out of hand, throwing out our spiritual and creative time is the last thing we need to be doing.  Church is our opportunity to soak in the Word and audibly hear God's message.  Our quiet time is the opportunity to meditate and apply that message to our lives.  The ability to use our gifts is glorifying to the One who provided them.

1 Peter 1:40 says, "Each one should use whatever gift he has recieved to serve others, faithfully administering God's grace in its various forms." It doesn't tell us, "use your gift when life calms down and you have some extra time." The most highly recommended method of treatment for persons suffering from stress, depression, anxiety, and other emotional ailments is to simply schedule a moment of time, no matter how long or short, once a day, week, month, to do whatever it is that they enjoy. Imagine the benefit of spending time alone with God, and then using the gift he's given you to kiss those blues away!

Wow! Now I'm inspired. I wonder if Pinterest has some good Devotion ideas... Just Kidding!

PS: If this video doesn't inspire you nothing ever will.
